Are You Afraid of Dying?

Did you know that on average over 7,500 people die every day in the United States alone? Over 150,000 people die each day worldwide. (Search it on the Internet.)

Yet, even though we know that 10 out of 10 people are going to die, this is a reality that most of us attempt to ignore.

So, do you personally have a fear of dying?

Yes

Yes, I have a fear of death!
Thank you for your honesty and humility. Please read on.

*Paraphrased from Voddie Baucham.

No, I am not afraid of dying.

One more question before you leave this page... Do you think fear is a bad thing or a good thing?

Fear is really a friend and not a foe. A healthy fear tells us not to touch a hot stove with our bare hand, to step back from a cliff's edge if we get too close, and to wear our seat belts during heavy in-flight turbulence. Healthy fear serves to preserve our lives and keep us from danger. The Bible tells us that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10) and only a fool says there is no God (Psalm 14:1). We are all prone to create a god of our own imagination, one we believe is comfortable with our lifestyles; but this is a form of idolatry.

As human beings we are all the same in the essentials. For example, when a surgeon operates to alleviate a health problem, he knows where to look for the human heart, appendix, lungs, or gall bladder. Likewise, as human beings there is a desire in each of us for life, and we do not truly want death.  Consequently, rightly answering the question, "What happens when we die?", is essential. Do you believe in an afterlife? What sort of afterlife do you think exists? Maybe you believe in “karma”, “re-incarnation” or a place in a “universal collective”? If so, who makes the judgment of what your life has earned you for the next life?

Remember truth is that which conforms with reality. If you truthfully give us your phone number, we can reach you by phone. But, if we are off by even one digit, you cannot answer. If a physician makes a correct and proper diagnosis of a person’s health issue, only then can he prescribe the proper treatment. We again invite you to consider the truth claims of what the Bible says about death and the afterlife, these inevitable outcomes for all humanity.

No

God Uses His Hydrological Cycle to Demonstrate His Effectual Word

"For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding [in the matter] for which I sent it.” (Isa 55:9-11 NAS95)
